Lanyard for use in offices and other settings with smart tech
Chris Hurst
I want to develop a smart digital lanyard and identity badge designed for workplaces where security, access control and visible identification matter. The product replaces the traditional printed staff pass with a low-power e-ink display, similar to the electronic shelf-edge labels now widely used in supermarkets. The badge can be updated securely by receivers installed throughout a building, allowing an organisation to change the information displayed without replacing or physically reissuing the pass. The display could show an employee's name, photograph, role, organisation, access status or other information determined by the employer. Its appearance could change automatically depending on location, time, security level or the individual's current permissions. For example, a badge could display one format inside a secure office and a different, less revealing format when the wearer leaves the building.
